My Approach

My goal in therapy is to help my clients achieve their ultimate level of happiness. I foster self-esteem as well as validate feelings and emotions that my clients are experiencing. I provide a judgement-free environment for clients to express their feelings and desires in life. I believe that everyone holds the key to their own happiness within themselves. My intention is to help you get to that place in your life where you feel fulfilled and to help you recognize that you have had that ability within yourself the entire time.

When working with children I find it is helpful to hear and understand their feelings about their struggles and frustrations. I also find it helpful to hear how parents feel about what their child is experiencing and how they typically respond to them. I feel that it is important to help both the parent and the child with coping skills when it comes to difficulties experienced by the child. Family dynamics are an extremely important piece in the progress of the client.

I tend to lean towards a humanistic or person-centered approach to therapy. In summary, this style of therapy avoids a focus on any type of dysfunction or “illness” but rather striving to help clients reach their full potential. Furthermore, this approach believes that all individuals are essentially good and that social problems result in a deviation from this tendency. In therapy, I aim to target your productive and beneficial traits that we can use to work towards YOUR idea of happiness.
